Lightbrush paintings
A lightbrush painting is a photograph developed on aluminum, steel, silver, or even transparent film, usually in large formats in the artist’s unique, original style and technique. Lightbrush painters use a combination of long exposure photography, light painting, and digital manipulation to create stunning and ethereal images. They often use various light sources, such as LED lights or laser pointers, to „paint“ with light directly onto the surface of the chosen medium, resulting in a mesmerizing blend of colors, shapes, and textures.
It was the intent of the artist to revive the fascination and brilliance of Daguerreotypes – from the early days of photography when pictures were developed on silver grounds, which provided a living reflection, depending on the outside light. It is nevertheless important that such a visual appearance be presented in a contemporary, modern way that is also flexible enough to allow us to be able to have pictures out in the open, as well as allowing us to use large format images should also be considered.
After several years of experiment and experience, Tilmann Krieg chose the fine brilliance of Aluminum as his favorite material and developed his own technique with a laboratory, that allows him to produce pictures from a small pocket format, up to whole facades of walls in the architecture.
